You have several processing options when accepting credit cards. Some options are geared more for sales where you do not have the card physically present (i.e., Internet, mail order, or telephone sales), while others are better suited for face to face sales where you will have the card present (i.e., in a storefront location).

Card Not Present Processing Options (cards are not swiped):

Card Physically Present Processing Options (you will be swiping cards):

Point of sale (POS) terminal
Wireless Terminal
Computer Software with an attached USB card swiper reader

You should choose the option that is best suited to how you will be processing. If more than 50% of your credit card sales will be where the credit card is not physically present, then you should choose one of the Card Not Present options. If more than 50% of the time you will have the card present, then check out the Card Physically Present options.
