Help for Taxpayers Comes in Many Forms for Clean Up Your IRS Act Month

Help for Taxpayers It’s tax season in America. This time of year when Americans prepare their taxes often adds a lot of stress on individuals and makes more work for the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) — but help is available!

The American Society of Tax Problem Solvers (ASTPS) proclaims March to be National Clean Up Your IRS Act Month, created to provide a month of tax aide programs and assistance for those who need it. They urge consumers to seek the help of Tax Professionals in order to focus on resolving their problems with the IRS.

ASTPS is a national, non-profit organization of professionals who specialize in representing taxpayers before the IRS. As ASTPS touts on their website, they “train rescue squads for troubled taxpayers”.

The IRS2Go Mobile App Gets Updated for 2013

More help during this tax season comes from the official smartphone app from the Internal Revenue Service, updated with new features in 2013. The IRS2Go mobile application lets you interact with the IRS using any app-enabled mobile device. Now when you are wondering where your refund may be, you can use your smartphone to check its progression.

The IRS provides three updates: when the tax return is received, when the refund is approved and when the refund is sent. The IRS recently reported its website and smartphone apps are becoming overwhelmed by eager taxpayers. In order to avoid delays the agency suggests the best time to check on refunds is evenings and weekends — and no more than once a day as its systems are only updated once daily (usually overnight).

The app’s upgraded features let users watch IRS YouTube videos, read the latest tax news or request your tax return or account transcript from your phone. Just request it through the app, and the IRS will mail it within a few days.

To download the IRS2Go app, if you have an Apple iPhone or iTouch, you can have it for free by visiting the iTunes app store. If you have an Android device, you can visit Google Play to download the free IRS2Go app.

The IRS reminds taxpayers that the same information is available on the website, the IRS2go smartphone app and IRS toll-free phone lines. The agency is committed to helping taxpayers get the information they need — anytime, from anyplace. The IRS’ latest information on tax law changes, initiatives, products and services is also available through various social media channels.
